Talent Show Brings Out Our Best
The "Nordeast Home Companion" is our long-running church talent show. Whether it's a makeover for Pastor Sarah, a serious piano concerto, or a child's recital piece, everyone in the church, regardless of age, is invited to share their talents. This year's show was held March 3, and as always, it was preceded by fresh baked pies. Proceeds went to Imagine No Malaria.
And the winner is...
Northeast UMC held its 2nd annual Chili Challenge fundraiser on January 26. The event raised $172 for 15 different charities, and brought in $208 in admissions. Andy Petter was the chef with the winning recipe.
Royal for a day
Cindy Sowden and Bill Jackson found the Baby Jesus in their King Cakes at the Epiphany Fair, held January 6. Orginally used to celebrate the arrival of the three wise men, King Cakes once contained a hidden bean. In New Orleans, where King Cakes may be consumed from Epiphany to Mardi Gras, the cakes now include the plastic baby. The person who gets the baby has to host the next King Cake party. The Epiphany Fair also included crafts for kids.
